From the Host

Penguin Road is like a regular house. If the guests click and get along, there could be a small chicken and beer or Makgeolli party, but it’s not a crazy loud place. The largest amount of people the guest house can take is around 10, so if you are someone who would like to share travel information and travel with relaxation, you are always welcome.

The thrill of the ocean awaits!

While many people think of Jeju Island as a place to simply soak up the magical scenery, it is also a place for the more active traveler looking for a new adventure.
When the host of Penguin Road Guest House first came to Jeju in 2013, she only had relaxation on her mind. Her intention was take some much needed time off from the stress of city life. She had certainly never had the time to work out or exercise. However one short walk in Jeju lead to a longer walk, and as her fitness improved daily, she was able to reach the top of Mount Hanrasan!

She decided to stay in Jeju and after opening Penguin Road Guest House, she found a new passion; surfing! Indeed, Penguin Road is the perfect place to stay if you too want to experience the ocean like never before!

As long as you avoid June (when professional suffers dominate the area for an international competition), you too can enjoy the thrill of surfing at Jeju Beach, even if you are a beginner. Ihoteu Beach in Jeju City and Jungmun saekdal Beach are two of the most popular places to enjoy the true nature of surfing in Jeju.

With Penguin Road located right in front of Jungmun saekdal Beach, you can head to the surf at any time. Although not run by Penguin Road, the host can connect you with a place that can teach you the basic skills to get you started, so even as a complete beginner, you can still fall in love with the waves as you experience the thrill of surfing!

Surfing isn’t for you? Then head to Jungmun Tourist Complex, no doubt considered one of the best tourist complexes in Jeju. From Yeomiji Botanical Garden and Lotte Hotel Jeju Duty Free Store to Yakcheonsa Temple, there are many things to see. If you wish to enjoy all of these sights, but still would like to sleep in peace and quiet, Penguin Road is the answer for you. While Jungmun Tourist Complex is just 1 to 2 km away, the guest house is located far enough that you will not be disturbed by tourist activity.
Take a day to enjoy everything the Tourist Complex has to offer, get a great night’s sleep, then head down to beach the next day. What more could you ask for from a guest house?
