Jeju Buckwheat Flower Festival 2019 (Jun. 1 & 2)

Do you know that Jeju island leads the nation in buckwheat production? Buckwheat flowers, popped like popcorn, bloom twice a year; late Spring and early Fall. Lee Hyo-seok, a noted Korean novelist wrote, “The buckwheat flowers were starting to bloom, sprinkling the fields like white salt under the pleasant lunar glow.” in his novel “When the buckwheat blossoms” (1936).

The second Spring buckwheat flowers Festival is now only a week away!

The festival will be held at Gwangpyeong-ri village, which is known as ‘the first village under Mt. Hallasan’ for 2 days. During the festival, you can take part in plenty of activities such as buckwheat-cookie baking,buckwheat-scented candle and buckwheat-pillow making at Jeju Buckwheat Experience Center, located right next to the buckwheat flower field.
