Jamnyeo Haenyeo Village (잠녀해녀촌)

 

Jeju haenyeos, or women divers, have brought their wealth of experience to this restaurant situated in Hamdeok. 24 local haenyeos in total, take shifts trying to catch seafood while jointly running the restaurant. No wonder all their seafood ingredients are from the Hamdeok ocean! Their signature dish is Sea urchin and top shell porridge, the delicious-looking color a harmony of yellow sea urchin roe and light green top shell. Other options like abalone porridge are also available for those who are not used to the taste of sea urchin roe. However, Pippi strongly recommends you to try this signature dish. It’s not easy to come across, even on Jeju island.

Unlike other restaurants also run by haenyeos, during the summer months they serve chilled sashimi soup (물회) made with abalone, trumpet shells, or cuttlefish. For chilled sashimi soup, in true Jeju style, you take all the ingredients first, then add some rice. See more Seafood Restaurants​
