From the Host

I hope that no one feels isolated as long as they are in Jeju. Whether they are vulnerable members of society or with animals, it doesn’t matter. I just want everyone to know that Left Hander’s door is always open. Left Hander seeks to provide an environment where anyone can enjoy Jeju freely. Jeju Travel Sharing Project began because of this philosophy we have. This project is run in collaboration of other 5 guesthouses in Jeju, where every two months we invite people in need to our guesthouses. If you love Jeju, please share your love with your neighbors.

Never tire of Jeju, a living landscape

After visiting Jeju over 10 times, could there be anything left to see?
The host's thoughts soon changed when his wife fell totally in love with the island. When she came back from her trip, which she took to recuperate after surgery for thyroid cancer, she told him she wanted to live on Jeju for about a year. He then got a room for her and his daughter in Jeju to live while he stayed behind to continue working. With his family now over in Jeju, he frequently visited Jeju, walking the olle trails that his wife loved. Suddenly, he realized why she fell in love with the island.

The olle trails he walked were different than the ones he knew before or drove around in a rental car under the purpose of ‘traveling’. As a Natural Heritage Site, the olle courses are where one can see nature breath, where oreums created by Jeju’s volcanos shift and reform, unrecognizable to those he had seen before.

Once again enchanted with the Island, he handed in his resignation without regrets and the Left Hander Guest House was born.

He purchased a house near the Haneyo Museum, remodeling it into a guest house, and even got his geological park guide license while working on the house. He hopes that the guests visiting Left Hander will enjoy the real heart of Jeju instead of what is portrayed as a typical tourist attraction. Left Hander’s guests will not be able to cover all that is on offer in one day, as one can go anywhere from Seongsan Ilchulbong, Udo Island, Bijarim Forest, and Manjanggul Cave to Jeju Olle 20 course and 21 course. Guests can also enjoy snorkelling in Sehwa Beach and go on an Oreum tour all from Left Hander.
The guest house is located in the middle of a small town, and the shared café for all guests is open for 24 hours.
