From the Host

When you look out the window of your second floor room, you have a panoramic view of the old stone wall houses of Jeju. You will also see the beautiful Sewha Beach with its gorgeous emerald color. We finally found this place after looking around the entire Island about 3 times over 3 months. We looked around so many places, but nothing could top the Sewha Beach we have here. I hope you lose your stress and the weight you bear in life and enjoy Jeju as much as you can.

iidy House, natural beauty surrounding a modern day structure

The full glass covered iidy café, where you can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the beach with your cup of coffee, will grab your attention right away, and you might have a hard time believing there is a guest house here. You wonder if the host lives on the second floor or if it is just a pension.

However, once you walk up the stairs to the second floor, you see 5 individual rooms. And unlike the newer guesthouses that have public bathrooms, the 2 and 4 person dormitories have their own bathrooms.

Another plus is that iidy House and Café is just around the corner of Haenyeo Museum, along Sehwa Beach.

“All of the guestrooms are on the second floor at iidy House, so some might think that they won’t get that sense of nature. But we tried to add that touch by making it look like an alley. Look up at the sky from the stairs going up to the second floor.” As I looked up, the bright sky, even in the midst of light rain, fell right into my eyes and my heart.

The host used to work as a developer for R&D Center, an enterprise that is considered to have a higher labor intensity. He visited Jeju Island 2 or 3 times a year to relieve his stress from work, and it just hit him one day - ‘Why don’t I just live here?’
His parents were not fond of the idea of him moving to Jeju at the young age of 30, but he still came alone and later met a beautiful woman who would become his wife. They became a couple, falling in love at first sight at the airport. He was about to get on a plane to Seoul while she had just arrived at Jeju airport. If you want to know more about their story, definitely ask during your stay at iidy House.
The word ‘iidy’ means ‘here’ in the Jeju dialect, and it is ‘here’ that you will want to stay.
