2019 Suwolbong GEO Trail Festival (Apr. 25 to 28) with a GEO guide

List

The 9th Suwolbong GEO trail, which will be held from April 25 to 28 (four days), is a good chance to see Jeju's geological heritage within the particular landscapes and local cultures, and try some of Jeju's GEO food.
Suwolbong Peak is one of 12 geosites and the first place to have geotrail which opened in 2011 with Global Geopark Status.
Three short trail courses around 4 km each will show you why the volcanic deposits are recognized as "the best exposure of pyroclastic surge deposits in the world" by the Global Geoparks Network.
As Jeju's most westerly tip, it offers one of the best sunsets on the island.

The legend of Suwolbong
A brother, Nokgo oreum' and his sister 'Suwolbong' came here to find a herbal medicine for their ailing mother, but Suwolbong fell to her death while trying to pick the herb from the oreum cliff-face. Nokgo started to weep creating the legend of "Tears of Nokgo", called "Nokgomul Springs" that can be found nearby.
